The objectives of this project are to optimize shift patterns in line maintenance with respect to the aircraft movement patterns, to optimize staff overtime and technicians utilization and to provide the company with Decision Support Models for the line maintenance operations to conduct future operations improvement.

 FEATURED SOLUTION
Optimization of Wafer Production Operations Using RobustEngineer Software and Technology. In many systems and processes of manufacturing, the boundary conditions and physical phenomena are so complex that it is beyond the present technical capability to obtain satisfactory analytical or numerical models. As such, experimentation is necessary to define the behavior of the system and/or processes. This project uses a method and the results of an 9-factor experiment designed to identify some factors and interactions that have a major effect in the capacity planning process for semiconductor manufacturing operations. The method consists of experimental designs and neural analysis. The dataset contained actual manufacturing data from wafer fabrication facilities that were organized into a standard format. Each dataset contained the minimum information necessary to model a factor, including product routing and process times, rework routings, equipment avail-ability, operator availability, and product starts. Two levels, high capacity setting and low capacity setting, were selected for the 9 modeled factors. Four factors were consistently identified as significant capacity loss factors. These were down-time, setup, yield, and dispatch rule. In addition to these factors, four interactions (setup and dispatch rule, downtime and dispatch rule, downtime and yield, and setup and downtime) were significant.

Automated Process Profiles Clustering, Characterization and Classification of Equipment using RobustEngineer Technology. This project investigates the feasibility of using smart technologies neural networks and optimization for Automated Process Profiles Clustering, Characterization and Classification of equipment. The feasibility study will explore opportunities with respect to :
  1. Manual Characterization and Post-Inspection,
  2. Difficulty in identifying and match-ing process profiles with consistency,
  3. Unable to determine if the mould requires maintenance as well as serviceability,
  4. Uncertainty in process due to process drift and process "wear-out".

 FEATURED SOLUTION
Design Modelling of Machine Behaviour Using Simulation and RobustEngineer Software. This project is for a semiconductor equipment manufacturers with the purpose of improving the performance of the automoulding machines. In this project, the machine behaviour is modelled using simulation and neural networks. A simulation model of an automoulding machine was created to determine accurately the throughput for 108 sets of different parameter settings of the machine elements. A robust design was used to determine the important factors. The results from the robust design analysis were then interpolated using Neural Network optimization technique to map out a complete multivariate response surface of the machine throughput. A database with an intelligent optimization search engine was then designed to facilitate the flexibility of search for optimal parameter settings to achieve maximum output.
